Levitra precautions

Levitra, like any other prescription medication, should be taken with utmost caution and only as prescribed by your doctor. Do not alter the dosage of the medication unless your doctor tells you to. Take the drug with a full glass of water with or without food. Unlike other ED medications Levitra can be taken with moderate amounts of alcohol (1 glass of wine) without the risk of substance interactions or negative side effects. However, if you take larger amounts of alcohol the effectiveness of Levitra will be significantly decreased and you are likely to suffer unpleasant symptoms.

Never take Levitra with any medications based on nitrates. Such medications are usually prescribed for treating chest pain and blood pressure issues. Street drugs called "poppers" are also based on nitrates. Mixing these substances with Levitra will result in a rapid and substantial drop in blood pressure that can lead to fainting, heart attack or heart failure. So make sure to inform your doctor if you've been prescribed with such medications in order to work out a schedule for taking Levitra without any risk to your health.

Avoid taking Levitra with any other erectile dysfunction medications especially other PDE-5 inhibitors like Cialis and Viagra. By doing so you increase the risk of experiencing negative side effects of these drugs since you effectively increase their dosage when taking them in conjunction with each other. Avoid eating grapefruits or any grapefruit-based products since this fruit has been observed to decrease the effectiveness of Levitra as well as other ED medications. Do not take Levitra more than once in 24 hours. Otherwise you increase the risk of experiencing the drugs negative side effects.
